Yasuní National Park and Huaorani community

It's really a privilege to be in the Huaorani community or Waorani of Neoneno in the limits of the Yasuni Park, one of the largest reserves of animal life on the planet! To access the site, the effort is important, you need to ride in one day 155 km from the city of Coca, it takes 2 hours or so by bus or private transport, then 4 hours by canoe but the final destination is worthwhile: wildlife and jungle await still intact!

Yasuni Park is uniquely situated in its type, its location in the extension of the Andes but equally deep in the Amazon. The richness of amphibians, mammals, birds and epiphytes is exceptional in that place

The wildlife around the Shiripuno river is abundant and unique. This region has many attractions, such as a natural viewpoint from where you can see the top of the trees, lianas, orchids, bromeliads, epiphytes ...

Numerous “Saladeros” (lagoons full of minerals) site where many birds and mammals come. On the banks of the river, we can often see alligators and otters sunbathing. In a word, a rich and fascinating wildlife in Amazonia still wild.

SITUATION

HUAORANI ANTHROPOLOGICAL RESERVE AND OUR FOUNDATION

The Huaorani reserve is located in the northeastern part of the country at an average height of 300 meters, extends over the provinces of Orellana, Napo and Pastaza. A total of 18 communities is living in this area.

The Huaorani are known for their extensive knowledge of the forest and its great ability to hunt. The Huaorani community elders have pierced earlobes where place balsa disks sign of wisdom; they are fully adapted to the sometimes hostile environment.

We have developed in accordance with the Huaorani community of Neoneno a project of solidarity tourism building Shiripuno cabins. They were mostly built with local materials and traditional techniques to preserve harmony with the environment. The rooms (occupancy 1 - 3 persons) are equipped with private bathrooms and beds with mosquito nets. The walls are semi open to listen the night sounds of the jungle. The accommodation capacity is 24 people. There is no electricity in the cabins, lighting is with candles. A battery charger with solar power is available at night for charging cameras.

People of Huaorani community of Neoneno are our assistants to organize different activities: walking with us and they are in charge of supply and logistics: canoe, cleaning cabins, reception of visitors... Our ultimate goal is to create a true responsible tourism in collaboration with the community to develop a local workforce and reduce direct and indirect damages of the oil industry present in the Amazon.

Contribute with us to this ecoturistic project, visiting this wonderful amazon region

The cabins will be the basis for settling into fascinating jungle.

WE INVITE YOU TO COME AND SHARE THIS ADVENTURE WITHIN AN ECOLOGICAL PROJECT CALLED “AMAZON CABAÑAS SHIRIPUNO” RIGHT IN THE HEART OF THE ECUADORIAN AMAZON RAIN FOREST!!!
